At The Skin Lab in Killarney, we use Cynosure PicoSure Pro to remove or fade unwanted tattoos using ultra-short picosecond laser pulses.

The technology targets tattoo pigment and breaks it into much smaller particles, which are then gradually cleared by the body. PicoSure technology can be used across a range of tattoo colours, including black, blue, green, red and yellow inks.

Treatment starts from €120 and takes approximately 15 minutes. Most clients require around 6–12 sessions, approximately 8 weeks apart, depending on the tattoo, colours, age, depth and how your skin responds.

A €30 consultation is required before starting treatment so we can assess your tattoo and recommend an individual treatment plan.

What Is PicoSure Pro Tattoo Removal?

PicoSure Pro is an advanced picosecond laser system from Cynosure designed to target unwanted tattoo pigment using ultra-short pulses of energy measured in trillionths of a second.

The rapid energy creates a photoacoustic effect that breaks tattoo ink into much smaller particles, which are then gradually cleared by the body over the weeks following treatment.

Different wavelengths can be used to target different tattoo colours, allowing PicoSure Pro to treat black, blue, green, red and yellow inks, as well as stubborn pigment that has not responded fully to previous laser treatments.

Before & After Your PicoSure Pro Tattoo Removal Treatment

Before treatment, you will have a €30 consultation so we can assess your tattoo, skin type and treatment goals. Please tell us about any medication or supplements you take, existing skin conditions, previous laser tattoo removal and any recent sun exposure or tanning.

Avoid excessive sun exposure and artificial tanning before your appointment, and follow any preparation instructions provided by your practitioner.

After treatment, the area may appear red, swollen or feel warm or tender. Temporary whitening or “frosting” of the tattoo immediately after treatment can also occur.

Following your treatment:

  • Keep the treated area clean
  • Avoid picking, scratching or disturbing the skin
  • Avoid unnecessary heat or friction while the area settles
  • Protect the treated area from sun exposure
  • Follow the aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner
  • Contact The Skin Lab if you have any concerns

Your tattoo will continue to fade gradually between sessions as the body clears the fragmented pigment.

    PicoSure Pro delivers ultra-short pulses of laser energy that break tattoo pigment into much smaller particles. Your body then gradually clears these particles, causing the tattoo to fade between treatments.
