Platelet Rich Plasma FAQs
Numbing cream is applied to the treatment area for approximetly 15 minutes prior to the procedure to minimise the disconfort caused by the injections.
Platelets contain a high content of “growth factors” – proteins that help to heal injured tissue or damaged skin. Injected platelets release their growth factors which trigger surrounding cells to proliferate and stimulate repair, increase volume and rejuvenate the skin.
Additionally, growth factors boost collagen production and improve skin elasticity. PRP Injections are injected below the surface of the skin in the area of fat loss and/or wrinkles and provides a gradual increase in skin thickness.
Before the procedure, blood is taken from the patient and put into a centrifuge, where the blood is spun in order to separate the red blood cells from the platelet plasma (hence the name Vampire Facial). Harvested platelets are then injected into problem skin areas, where they release growth factors.

Next, topical anaesthetic is applied to the treatment area, for approximately 15 minutes during which the blood sample is drawn.
The sample is placed into the centrifuge for the separation of the blood into plasma rich protein (PRP) and red blood cells, then the skin is prepared for the treatment.
This plasma contains proteins to stimultate the growth of your own collagen and to improve the blood supply into the tissue. This is then injected into the treatment area in a sterile manner.
