HALO Laser Killarney: The Ultimate Hybrid Fractional Skin Resurfacing

Experience the famous HALO glow - deep resurfacing with remarkable results.

What is HALO?

HALO is the world's first hybrid fractional laser, available at The Skin Lab Killarney. By combining ablative and non-ablative wavelengths in one treatment, HALO resurfaces both the superficial and deeper layers of your skin simultaneously - delivering dramatic results that typically require two separate procedures.

The result? The famous "HALO glow" - smoother texture, reduced wrinkles, diminished scars, and a radiant, youthful complexion.

How Does HALO Laser Work?

HALO is unique because it combines two laser wavelengths in a single treatment:

Ablative wavelength (2940nm):

Removes the damaged outer layer of skin, eliminating sun damage, pigmentation, and surface imperfections.

Non-ablative wavelength (1470nm):

Heats the deeper dermal layers, stimulating collagen production and skin remodelling from within.

This dual-action approach means you get the dramatic surface improvements of ablative laser with the deep collagen stimulation of non-ablative treatment - delivering comprehensive results in one session that previously required multiple procedures.

    • Reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
    • Improved skin reflectivity and glow
    • Reduced pore size
    • Significant removal of discoloration
    • Treats surface AND deep skin layers in one session
    • Faster results than non-ablative lasers alone
    • Fine lines and deep wrinkles
    • Enlarged pores
    • Acne scarring and textural scarring
    • Sun damage and age spots
    • Melasma and hyperpigmentation
    • Uneven skin tone and texture
    • Dull, tired-looking skin

What to Expect From Your HALO Treatment at The Skin Lab?

To ensure a comfortable experience, a topical numbing cream is applied to the face before the treatment. The HALO procedure typically takes around 45 minutes, depending on the area treated, and may take longer for more extensive treatments.

Mild swelling or a light prickling sensation during the process may occur.

Temporary small dark spots may appear on the treated area, which should fade within a few days. Patients may also experience
slight bruising or peeling, but these are normal symptoms and typically subside after a week.

What Is the Downtime for HALO Laser?

Most clients plan for 5-7 days of social downtime, though makeup can typically be applied after day 5.

    • Day 1: Skin feels hot, appears red like sunburn. Pinpoint bleeding possible in treated areas.
    • Day 2-3: Peak redness and swelling. Skin feels tight and may look bronzed.
    • Day 3-5: Micro-peeling begins. Skin has a sandpaper-like texture.
    • Day 5-7: Peeling completes. Fresh, glowing skin emerges.
    • Week 2+: Continued improvement as collagen remodelling progresses.

What Is the Difference Between HALO and BBL?

BBL (BroadBand Light) targets superficial concerns like pigmentation, redness, and sun damage using intense pulsed light - with minimal downtime. HALO goes deeper, using hybrid fractional laser technology to resurface the skin and stimulate significant collagen remodelling.

While HALO requires 3-7 days of downtime, the results are more dramatic and often achieved in fewer sessions. Many clients combine both treatments - BBL for ongoing maintenance and HALO for periodic deep resurfacing.

    HALO FAQs

Most patients find the treatment not very painful. Most customers would rate it a 4 on a scale from 1 to 10.

Typically, you can expect to see results within the first few days. Sciton HALO treatments are non-invasive, and you can experience noticeable improvement in the treated area for several months
    following your appointment.

While most patients see noticeable results after just one treatment, a few treatments may be required to achieve the ultimate
    goals.

It is normal and expected to experience redness after treatment, which typically intensifies over the first few days, with day 3 being the most intense. The redness can last for up to 7-10 days, depending on the intensity of the treatment. Additionally, pinpoint bleeding may occur, which can last for up to 12 hours and may be isolated to certain treated areas, depending on the treatment depth. Swelling is also common and expected immediately after treatment. Your skin will also be more sensitive to sunlight for 2 weeks after your treatment, so it is important to wear high SPF.

    Downtime is approximately 3 - 7 days.

The number of sessions required to achieve optimal results varies and will depend on skin concerns, goals and expectations. On average, we recommend 1-2 sessions every 4-6 weeks.

BBL treats surface concerns (pigmentation, redness, sun damage) with minimal downtime. HALO is a hybrid fractional laser that resurfaces both surface and deep skin layers for more dramatic results, but requires 3-7 days of recovery. Many clients combine both for comprehensive rejuvenation.

Yes, HALO is often combined with BBL for comprehensive rejuvenation - treating both pigmentation and deeper skin concerns. We can also recommend complementary treatments like skincare products to enhance and maintain your results.

Patients should also discontinue using products containing active ingredients, such as Retinol (Retin-A, Tretinoin, Vitamin A), Glycolic Acid, Salicylic Acid, AHAs (Alpha-hydroxy acids), LHAs (Lipo hydroxy acids), and Benzoyl Peroxide, seven days prior to treatment. Hydroquinone should be avoided for three days before treatment. If patients have questions about their current skincare products, they can contact then clinic.

On the day of treatment, patients should arrive with no makeup on and avoid sun exposure, including tanning beds, for at least 14 days prior to treatment. Sunless tanning creams or sprays should also be avoided on the treated area for 14 days prior. Waxing or using depilatory creams on the treatment areas should be avoided for 14 days prior.

Additionally, patients should avoid blood thinners such as Aspirin, Motrin, Ibuprofen, Fish Oils, and Vitamin E for 5-7 days before treatment. If patients are on prescribed blood thinners, they should contact their GP.

Lastly, patients are advised to bring a wide-brimmed hat with them on the day of treatment to protect their skin when they leave the clinic.
