The skin, also called the dermis, is one of the largest organs in the human body, and it is laced with capillaries that transport nutrients and oxygen in the blood.

In some individuals, problems with blood flow or the amount of oxygen in the blood causes certain skin conditions.

Red Skin FAQs

Dry skin could cause redness, especially if you have been scratching the area over a period of time. The sun and your exposure to it dries out the skin too, which could result in redness as well. If you’re suffering from skin redness, get in touch with The Skin Lab’s helpful team to book a consultation.

Sugar causes inflammation in the body, which can result in red skin patches. However, if you already suffer from inflammatory conditions like eczema and rosacea, the sugar consumption could make them worse.

Many people find that after some alcohol, their faces turn a little red. This is known as “flushing”, and the reasons why this happens is because the body can sometimes struggle to digest alcohol in its entirety. Alcohol can trigger rosacea, which is a redness in the skin that happens when the blood vessels enlarge and generate more blood flow. Though this redness can disappear, over time it can lead to a permanent expansion of the blood vessels as well as thread veins on the skin.
